Used fender duo sonic11/21/2023 I played out of my mini Line 6 amp with a little reverb and it sounded heavenly! When I played this guitar at home on my Facebook live (Gabby Logan or Guitar Gabby), I loved the guitar’s fresh and clean sound even with light distortion. I used this guitar in three different atmospheres to test its ability to deliver evenly in every arena. The humbucker and single coil pickups allow for the player to switch to a solid guitar foundation that allows playing with pedals and sounds to not be muddy, but creates a smooth and exciting time when playing. The versatility of the sound is in the body build and the evenness and smooth playability of the neck. These Duo Sonics were built to not feel like a burden instead, they were designed with players like me in mind. When you are wearing it on stage or even sitting with it on your lap, it does not feel like you are even holding anything. Originally designed by Fender as a student guitar thanks to its shorter 24″ scale length, it has been a guitar of choice among beginner guitar players and players with smaller hands. The main thing I love about this guitar is how lightweight it is. My band is a rock band, so I have always played guitars that are built for rock. They are wound quite full like the early Stratocasters and have a great sound. The magnets on the Duo sonic and Musicmasters pickups are flush with the top of the bobbins flatwork. The Duo Sonics and Musicmasters had solid top covers, unlike the Stratocaster covers that have molded round holes so the magnets can protrude through the cover. Later pickups used 42 Plain Enamel for the insulation. The 50s and early 60s pickups used the same 42 AWG Formvar insulation as the Stratocasters. The pickups used together were actually humbucking. This was done to reduce unwanted hum when the two pickups were used together. In other words, the (Bridge) pickup was wound Top Going with a North Polarity and the (Neck) pickup was wound Top Coming with a South Polarity. The two pickup Duo Sonic guitar was the first that I recall that had a stock (RW/RP) Reverse Wind/Reverse Polarity. This made the magnet look rough and pitted.
